December '22's curated collection of creativity and inspiring work that caught my attention and influenced my work including notable colours, fonts, music, words and artists.

Colour inspo

December is a busy month, aka a whirlwind of sparkles, plaid, lights and all things holiday themed. It’s a festive time and I wanted to capture the staple colours of the season—the ones you see when you walk into a festive living room that get you into the holiday spirit.

This months colours are inspired by festive foods and decorations that surround us during this time of year. The colours are dark but rich which is also a reflection of this time of year. Wishing everyone a merry holidays and a happy new year.

Most listened to

Here’s a collection of some of my favourite soul songs that I either use to get inspired or to dance in the kitchen. I don’t like Christmas music so this was my version of getting into the warm and rich spirit of the holidays.

Inspiring words

This month’s inspiring words and uplifting insight are from a really cute and inspiring movie I re-watched recently called Hector and the Search for Happiness.

We should concern ourselves not so much with the pursuit of happiness, but with the happiness of pursuit.

Artist shoutout

This month’s creative shoutout goes to a short done by Barbosa Film called The Weight of Spring done in 2018. The film was directed by Erika Calmeyer, scripted by Erika Calmeyer & Benjamin Loeb and produced by Nina M. Barbosa Blad.

This short film has been one of my favourites for years and has deeply inspired me. In my life I am always searching for a deeper outlook and more authentic emotion. This short film has a really beautiful way of bringing a quiet rawness and perspective to life’s little moments. Each scene shows a personal and intimate moment from different peoples lives and these scenes each elicit a different emotion from the viewer.

Follow along for next months inspiration roster! If you found this post inspiring, send it to your friends and family— let’s spread the creativity.

♥ Best,
Hayley
